About Jerry Tello

Maestro Jerry Tello is a servant community leader, healing practitioner and internationally recognized author and voice for healing and justice. Born from a family of Mexican, Texan and Coahuiltecan roots and raised in the south central/Compton areas of Los Angeles, Maestro Tello is considered an international expert in the areas of culturally based, trauma informed, healing centered practices, storytelling and flor y canto.

For over 45 years he has dedicated himself to the healing, restoration and capacity building of individuals, families, communities and systems by speaking to over half a million people and training thousands of practitioners and facilitators across the nation.

He is co-founder and Director of Training and Capacity Building for the National Compadres Network (established in 1988) and oversees Sacred Circles Center in Whittier California. He has received many major awards including in Maria Shriver’s Annual Advocate for Change award; the White House Champions of Change award; the Presidential Crime Victims Service award, presented by President Bill Clinton and Attorney General Janet Reno; two California Governor’s Awards, the Ambassador of Peace and this year received the Pioneer Award for over 40 years of working to men and boys of color.

 

Maestro Jerry has authored numerous articles, videos, webinars, curricula and books including the award winning book Recovering Your Sacredness, A Fathers Love, a series of children’s books, and a series of motivational health and healing CDs.

In addition he moderates a weekly podcast entitled “Healing Generations” and is completing his next book, entitled La Cultura Cura: Ancestral Medicine to Heal and Bless Us All Up.

Jerry is the partner to Susanna and together they have five children, six grandchildren and a large extended family.
